CURRENT NEWS & EVENTS
As you may have heard, the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Campaign is coming up on September 12, and is all about helping women and families walk away from violence in Edmonton! YWCA accomplishes this through several programs, which include counselling, girlspace, and camp YoWoChAs!
This year, we are hoping to raise $220,000 to go towards our programs and mission. Our counselling services have been forced to put a cap on their wait list, as we have had so many people come to us this year in need of counselling that we have 100 people on the waiting list, and not enough counsellors to meet all of these clients in a timely manner. On top of that, the majority of our clients receive subsidized counselling, and often only pay $5-10 a session. Much of our resources come from donations, and our two main annual events, so it is essential that Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is successful!
If you’d like some more information about the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Event, you can go to our website, www.walkamileedmonton.com
Here are a few fact sheets to read and share as well.
